WHO IS JAKE ESTRADA?

Jake Estrada is an independent comic book creator, filmmaker, actor, publisher, and convention organizer best known as the creator of the Bocas comic and film franchise and the current showrunner of Space Coast Comic Con.

Born in Philadelphia and later raised in Philly/South Jersey area, Estrada began creating the character Bocas as a young teenager. Over the years, that character evolved into a long-running independent comic series centered on a dark avenging hero rooted in Puerto Rican culture, folklore, and social commentary.

Some highlights of his work include:

  • Founder and publisher of Space Coast Comixx (SCCX).
  • Creator of the Bocas comic universe, with dozens of comics published over nearly two decades.
  • Star and producer of the independent films Bocas and Bocas vs Night of the Living Dead.
  • Organizer and current steward of Space Coast Comic Con, one of the largest independent comic and pop-culture events on Florida’s Space Coast.
  • Founder of Bocas Film Fest, a festival focused on independent filmmakers.
  • Appeared on the Paranormal Revenge episode featuring paranormal investigations.
  • Creator and investigator behind the paranormal project Underpresence.

Estrada’s work often blends horror, action, urban fantasy, Puerto Rican history, folklore, and personal experiences. Much of the mythology behind Bocas draws from themes of loss, justice, faith, cultural identity, and the struggle between vengeance and redemption.

Within Florida’s independent comics scene, Jake is known not only for creating comics and films but also for building communities through conventions, film festivals, creator networking, and support of independent artists and filmmakers.
